Racquet Studios has partnered with Canon Europe to deliver virtual film production and photogrammetry presentations and demonstrations throughout IBC 2023.

Taking place at the Canon Europe booth within the RAI Amsterdam convention centre between Friday 15th and Monday 18th September 2023, Racquet Studios has partnered with Canon to deliver a stunning XR stage, demonstrating a range of bespoke virtual environments and workflows. With hands-on real-time shooting opportunities, the set will highlight Canon’s cutting-edge Flex Zoom Cinema lenses with a host of high-quality virtual backdrops and partner brands. Racquet Studios will demonstrate the benefits of shooting on a virtual set with a best-in-class ecosystem and dynamic solutions.

With the virtual production market continuing to gather pace and major Film and TV productions adopting the technology worldwide, Canon has responded to the specific needs of this emerging market by developing innovative imaging solutions to help streamline workflows.

Canon's Flex Zoom lenses are an ideal choice for virtual production thanks to their broad full frame zoom range, high optical performance, industry-leading T2.4 iris and advanced lens metadata functionality featuring Cooke i/Technology and ZEISS eXtended data support. Racquet Studios will Power the virtual production zone, which will feature a Canon C500 Mark II on a dolly-mounted tripod to showcase how the lenses perform in various virtual scenes, as well as communicate with the software to dynamically render environments that match the lens settings.

Photogrammetry

At 2 p.m. each day during IBC 2023, Racquet Studios will give a presentation dedicated to ‘The Art of Photogrammetry’. The sessions will give an insight into the benefits of producing ‘digital twins’ of objects and environments with an overview of the various applications in which they are useful for filmmakers and lateral channels. Presentations will include an introduction to the photogrammetry process and how the team created a full room set using a 45-megapixel Canon EOS R5C.
